Wallsend Cranes Demolition – Signals End Of An Era For The River Tyne

The Last 2 cranes standing at the Wallsend shipyards site on the banks of the river Tyne were blasted from the local skyline yesterday in an event that lasted just a few seconds but changed the Wallsend skyline forever.

This event and last years departure of the Titan III (as well as the Swan Hunter floating dock and crane bases) marks the beginning of a new phase of development for the residents of Wallsend.

Plans in process for the riverside site can now be developed further.

Great to be able to see Hebburn again (until NTC blocks the view with office buildings and flats)
