Wallsend Carville Hotel & Public House Hit By Fire

The Carville pub in Wallsend has today been reported as being all but destroyed by a massive fire.

The Carville was one of the most well known of the many Wallsend public houses, pubs & hotels and was situated on the south side of  The Wallsend Metro on Carville Road.

Only lasy year (2009) the Carville faced the threat of being closed down after Northumbria police asked for it’s alcohol licence to be reviewed (pdf) following an increase in fighting & general rowdy behaviour, which was causing distress to local residents.

Northumbria Police & Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue service crews are currently attending the scene which has forced the temporary closure of part of the Wallsend bus station.
