St Paul’s Church or St Pauls Centre as it is now known in Willington Quay, Wallsend was finished and consecrated in 1876 and extended in 1923 by the addition of a chancel, organ loft and vestries.
In 2000, the church was reordered to accommodate the St Paul’s Community Project with new glass screens & side aisles converted into a computer suite, meeting room and kitchen.
In 2009, St Paul’s Church status was changed from a parish church to a chapel of ease to allow for greater freedom in the frequency and style of worship to incorporate aims which encourages the social, physical, emotional & spiritual well-being of all those living in and around Willington Quay.
St Pauls Community partnership has a membership ranging from local residents to large organisations and would be happy to hear from people who would like to make a difference in the Willington Quay area by joining the Partnership … read more
