Walkers & Cyclists travelling through an underpass in East Howdon, Wallsend could be forgiven for thinking the world has gone mad when they come across graffitied walls with a message “seemingly” from a gang calling themselves the Pheonix DYP that other prospective graffiti artists need to ring a local phone number to get permission to daub the walls in paint !
However when you look into the Pheonix DYP a little deeper you find it is actually a youth project supported by North Tyneside Council.
The Pheonix Detached Youth Project is a local charity which started as far back as the 9th of February 2004 and has successfully delivered detached youthwork in Chirton, Riverside, East Howdon and Royal Quays estates.
