Police have closed off a street in Wallsend & have launched a major murder investigation after a 25 year old man was stabbed to death on Burns Closes Crescent, in Rosehill, Wallsend in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Officers from the North Tyneside branch of Northumbria police were called at 1.53am on Saturday, February 16, 2013 to reports of a stabbing along with the Northumbrian ambulance service.
A 25-year-old man was taken to the RVI where he was later declared dead.
At this time police believe that the man had been at a house party at an address in Burns Closes Crescent.
The incident is reported as having started inside a house on the crescent before moving on to the street outside. Police closed off parts of the street as well as the steps leading down to the Rose Inn while they searched the surrounding area.
Northumbrian Police officers are working to establish exactly what happened and currently 7 men and women aged between 45 & 19 have been arrested in connection with the investigation and are currently in custody helping with enquiries … more information
In a seperate incident, a man from Lisle Street in Wallsend has denied the murder of another man found stabbed on Hugh Street in Wallsend on 23 December 2012. He was remanded in custody to return to Newcastle Crown Court on the 13th May 2013.
